Grants Liaison
Dave works as the Pacific Birds Habitat Joint Venture’s Grants Liaison, supporting other Joint Venture staff and partners in developing and submitting grant proposals to funding sources such as the North American Wetlands Conservation Act program. He worked for The Nature Conservancy (TNC) for over 25 years in a variety of positions, most recently as the Director of its national Migratory Bird Program. During his time at TNC, among other duties, Dave served as the Conservancy’s Staff person on the North American Wetlands Conservation Council. This involved reviewing and site visiting more U.S. Standard and Small NAWCA grant proposals than he can count! He also gained extensive knowledge of the many additional national and regional partnerships and initiatives that comprise our bird conservation network.
Dave has an MS from Florida State University and a PhD from the University of New Mexico. He currently resides in the arid southwest in Albuquerque, New Mexico, but has a great familiarity with and appreciation for the diverse habitats of the Pacific Northwest and visits on a regular basis. He enjoys birding, gardening, getting outside, and exploring the natural world in his free time.
