Nancy has had a lifelong interest in conservation and became particularly interested in private land conservation while doing a long-term research and conservation project on badgers in the East Kootenay. Prior to joining Nature Conservancy Canada, she worked as the program manager for the Kootenay Conservation Program, where she greatly enjoyed working on land securement. Nancy and her husband also ran a consulting company for over 20 years, doing wildlife research, roadkill mitigation, park interpretation and habitat and wildlife planning.
She has a Bachelor of Science and also holds a Master of Environmental Design. Her thesis was titled Approaches to Promoting Conservation through Wildlife Viewing Programs.
Nancy describes herself as a dabbler who loves to cook, walk, climb, paddle, play cards and spend time with family and friends.
