The 2018-19 Duck Stamps went on sale at the end of June. Mallards graced the Federal Duck Stamp, and an Emperor Goose the Junior Duck Stamp. Proceeds from the sale of the stamps support habitat conservation on national wildlife refuges and youth conservation education, respectively.
The annual Duck Stamp program has been enormously successful raising funds that are used for the purchase or lease of habitats within the National Wildlife Refuge System. It has long been a win-win for hunters and the habitats that support waterfowl. The program also benefits multiple additional uses, such as birding and photography. The U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service figures show that nearly 46 million people visit national wildlife refuges each year, and that more than 80 percent are watching wildlife–particulary birds!
