Dr. Mark Petrie was recently awarded the 2019 National Blue-winged Teal Award by the North American Waterfowl Management Plan Committee. This annual award recognizes significant contributions to wetlands and waterfowl conservation at either the national or regional level.
Mark is the Director of Conservation Planning for Ducks Unlimited's Western Region and also serves as a part-time Science Coordinator for Pacific Birds.
Over his career, Mark's research and planning efforts have helped establish habitat objectives for waterfowl throughout the Pacific Flyway. He has also focused on the effects of sea level rise on important estuaries along the Washington and Oregon coasts, among numerous other contributions. He has been involved with several joint ventures in addition to Pacific Birds.
