We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Laura Farwell is joining the Pacific Birds team! Laura starts May 31st as the Conservation Coordinator for Coastal Habitats. In this capacity she will work with existing partners, cultivate new partnerships, collaborate with Pacific Birds board and staff to advance coastal habitat conservation and management, and help sustain bird populations from northern California to Alaska.
Laura has over ten years’ experience in avian ecology and on-the-ground conservation management and planning. She earned her Ph.D. at West Virginia University in 2018, and in her postdoctoral research position at the University of Wisconsin developed continental scale habitat indices and bird richness maps for conservation applications. Most recently, she worked as the lead scientist at Conservation Science Partners in California.
Laura is eager to bring about positive conservation outcomes in our coastal area. Her passion for working collectively to advance meaningful on-the-ground conservation makes her a great fit for our partner-driven Joint Venture. Please join us in welcoming Laura!
