Science Coordinator for British Columbia

Jenny Muñoz is the Science Coordinator for the Pacific Birds Habitat Joint Venture–Canada and the Canadian Intermountain Joint Venture, where she supports a wide network of partners in advancing bird and habitat conservation. Her career has focused on bird ecology and habitat conservation at multiple scales. With a strong foundation in field ecology and a passion for collaborative science, Jenny is committed to bridging research and practice to support science-driven conservation decisions that are grounded in evidence and responsive to partner needs.
Jenny holds an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of British Columbia and brings more than a decade of experience in field ecology, ornithology, and data analysis. She is particularly interested in how science can inform conservation and guide decision-making under changing climate conditions, including the impacts of extreme events. She also focuses on developing reproducible, science-driven tools that can be applied across regions. Before joining Pacific Birds, Jenny contributed to conservation science initiatives with the Canadian Wildlife Service and academic collaborators, including projects focused on biodiversity monitoring and conservation prioritization in access to green space.
Originally from Colombia, Jenny now lives in Vancouver, B.C. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, hiking, biking, spending time in the ocean, and playing beach volleyball.
